Statement of the Case:

China has been building islands in the South China Sea, while using the military to expand China’s zone of control. China has been aggressively expanding their presence in contested areas of the South China Sea. Over the last three years sand was dredged from the seafloor and put on top of coral reefs to create nearly 3200 acres of new land. This construction threatens traditional Japanese fishing and trade.

Charges:

The ICC charges China, under Article 8, with Crimes of Aggression, for the annexation of territory and military occupation of territory.
