As the representatives of Nepal, we are honored to discuss the new and old, global and local issues across our beautiful world. Our Nation's leader, Sher Bahadur Deuba, has made it clear that he would like support in further industrialization and modernizing his great nation. In order to accomplish this goal we are hopeful that the UN can financially aid Nepal. As representatives we look forward to this meeting and are sure it will benefit everyone.

Due to the lack of funding for Nepalese refugees and our economic situation the nation of Nepal would like to request funding in the form of 500,000 dollars in order to create better housing and supply necessary provisions to citizens facing hardship due to natural disaster. The government is struggling to help families who have been affected by the harsh mountain climates. Also, the funding from the UN would go towards the Bhutan refugees as well. Our position on immigrants coming into Nepal is that we do not need them at this current moment. Nepal is a poor country and we are struggling to provide for our own, the nation of Nepal would prefer not to aid in efforts to help those in the middle east.

Nepal has no known major oil, gas, or coal reserves, and its position in the Himalayas makes it hard to reach remote and extremely remote communities. In the past most people have been able to keep energy needs with biomass, human labor, and other “old fashion” ways. In 2010 the total energy consumption for nepal was 428 PJ. Out of all energy produced only 1% was renewable. Nepal is asking for 2 million U.S.D. to gain traction with renewable energy sources such as new windmills and solar panels. With a larger percent of total energy produced being renewable it will make Nepal cleaner and more open to tourism. With a larger tourist population the economy will boom which in turn will be able to provide funding for means to increase renewable energy.

The Nepal Delegation wants to encourage all countries to commit to a collaboration of prevention against drug use and crime. Nepal experiences a heavy use of drugs and crime such as the use and growth of cannabis, sex trafficking, and terrorism from the near borders. We believe that a closer collaboration of countries within the United Nations would not only be effective but necessary in order to keep the countries of the world safe from growing crime.

Nepal’s objective for the conference, pertaining to the environment, is to find a balance between economic development as well as environmental conservation. The nation’s industrial and economic development must be directly correlated with environmental management to create sustainability. Nepal is to establish habits and solutions to the air pollution issue it is facing. Nepal currently has the fourth-worst air quality in the world, directly causing negative greenhouse effects on the Himalayan Mountains as well as surrounding glaciers and is looking for solutions to persuade the population of environmentally conscious alternatives to their everyday habits. Nepal was one of the first developers of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and hopes to further implement them into their groundwork.

We are excited to start the  developing of our country and creating new relationships along the way.
